BASIC COMPUTER SKILLS
Module 1. Identify parts of the computer, computer accessories & common software icons
Introduction to Computers Lesson Plan
Module 2 Use the mouse to point, click & drag.
Module 3 Identify and demonstrate use of basic keyboard keys and functions.
WORD PROCESSING SKILLS
Module 4 Open a new document, enter and format text.
Complete a resume from a template or construct a simple resume. In MicrosoftWord:
Module 5 Retrieve and print saved documents.
Continue working on resume. Print first draft and revise. Print final copy.
Module 6 Use the Help menu to solve a word processing problem.
Teacher writes various problems on index cards. Students choose a card and use the Help Menu to find the solution. Students present their problems and solutions to the class orally and/or in writing.
INTERNET NAVIGATION SKILLS
Module 7 Identify the parts of a web page and website addresses.
Module 8 Given a web address, (URL) access the appropriate web site using a web browser.
Module 9 Navigate and find information on a particular web site by scrolling, clicking on links, and using the browser navigation and drop down menus.
Module 10 With assistance from a peer, set up a personal email account and send messages.

- Introduce students to keyboarding basics. Read and discuss Overview and complete each lesson in the tutorial. http://www.typing-lessons.org/
- Print and complete checklist as you progress.

- Click on File-New-Resumes and CVs
- Then, from the Basic Resume category choose an Entry Level Resume.
- Follow the on screen instructions to create a customized resume.

- Go the the CNN web site 1. Find the local weather. 2. Find the weather in another country (click on Weather and enter zip code). 3. And report on 2 major headlines. Use index cards to take notes and share your findings in an oral report.
- Webquests – Complete one of the treasure hunts
Module 10 With assistance from a peer, set up a personal email account and send messages.
